Leadership Agility Training
Leadership success hinges on engaging intelligent and creative people and cultivating strong relationships. We often try to help people through process, project, or product improvement; while these improvements can be valuable, they are not directly aimed at helping people be awesome.
Leadership Agility Training is for individuals who want to help their people be awesome and successful by moving to the next level of leadership. [Learn more about Leadership Development Services and Leadership Agility.]
As leaders we are expected to deal with:
- Changing products and projects
- Conflicts between people with diverse views and ideas
- Helping people deliver results under a barrage of change
- Ongoing changes to the people in leadership and on teams
- Aligning teams to deliver on organizational strategy and quarterly goals
All the while:
- Helping people learn and grow
- Engaging with other leaders and customers
- Creating the safe and fun environment required for learning and problem solving
- Seeking out new opportunities and challenges
Piece of Cake, Right?
We know it is not easy! We also know there are some excellent tools and approaches that can help you be more amazing leaders! As leaders, we often do not have an opportunity to learn or tackle the hard skills–those people-focused skills that are required to be successful. We need tools and approaches that focus on the root cause behind problems to deal with the real issues. We need approaches to build trust and have real conversations.
We bring a wealth of different ideas from many schools of thought (coaching, psychology, agile, facilitation, improv, lean, project management, leadership, etc.) to give leaders the insights, experiences, and tools they need to engage people in real conversations, build agile organizations, and empower people to succeed.
Learning Objectives & Topics for Leadership Agility Training
- Explore and analyze typical leadership challenges and map them to your challenges.
- Learn three core concepts to focus on improving how you work with team and organizational relationships, interact with others, and master yourself.
- Learn about key success factors for teams, from their size to their focus and learn to create a team alliance that creates co-responsibility.
- Learn about multiple tools and approaches for dealing with conflict by targeting the root cause and understanding the value of the conflict.
- Learn and contrast old management theories to leadership agility ideas to create key talking points about the differences.
- Learn key listening and questioning skills that allow you to lead without providing the answer. Learn to assess when it makes sense to solve a problem vs. enable someone to solve it themselves.
- Learn how we experience change and how that affects leadership.
- Assess organizational challenges against a systems model to determine which solution approaches are more likely to be successful.
- Experience a framework for leading from different perspectives and apply this to your challenges.
- Learn how to create a team vision that aligns with the organization’s goals to bring back and use with your team(s).
- Understand and use key tools to address challenges, frame conversations, and get new insights into what is really happening. Apply practical tools to your challenges to see new angles and information you can apply with your team (s).
- Apply ideas and concepts throughout the course to your current challenges to develop individual action plans and ideas to help enable and engage your team(s).
Learning Approach
Expect to get involved throughout the course with hands-on exercises, discussions, lecture (have to do a bit!), and both team and individual work.
- We do not use slides or powerpoint and do not use phones and laptops in class.
- Each leader will focus on specific challenges or opportunities they experience and develop a personal action plan for their topics.
- Expect to be present and engaged throughout the course with exercises and activities that are linked together and that build on one another.
- Expect to engage with the other attendees and the trainer to ask questions about challenging issues.
Who Should Attend
This course is for anyone in a leadership role who is willing to engage in some introspection and learn new ideas for leading people, teams, and organizations. This includes executives, managers, directors, team leaders, functional managers, department leads, or others in leadership roles. And of course, you do not need to have a “leadership title” to be a leader. If you are interested in sending people who are aspiring leaders, let’s talk. They may be able to attend, but because the course is focused on developing action ideas for existing leadership challenges, they may not have enough challenges (yet) to truly benefit from the course.
Duration
Leadership Agility Training is 2.5 days. We recommend follow-up coaching that builds on the outcomes of the class and ensures people have the ability to try ideas, run experiments, and receive additional input on challenges and issues.
Course Credit
You can submit Leadership Agility for course credit for PDUs, CDUs, etc. Please contact us for details and questions.
